The Faculty of English, University of Cambridge, has been the home to some of the most eminent critics, scholars, teachers and writers of English Literature. The new English Faculty is part of our wider masterplan for the university’s Sidgwick arts and humanities campus. The building forms three sides of a west-facing courtyard containing a garden and terrace. A library, cafe and circulation to the main lecture rooms all face onto the garden at ground floor level, with three floors of academic and administrative offices on the upper levels. The building sets back at its entrance to accommodate an existing, protected, holm oak tree.
